Two items for your attention this week:
Please be watching for your child’s report card. It should be arriving by the end of this week/beginning of next week. Hopefully there will be no surprises for you—feel free to discuss it with me if you have any questions.
I will be away from school Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. My youngest daughter is getting married this Saturday and I am quite busy with last minute preparations and out of town family arriving (AND feeding the 5000!). The class will be very capably managed by Mrs. Enos, a very dear friend who taught with me over 20 years ago. I have prepared all the lesson plans for her and she will expect the same level of performance from your child as I do. Please encourage your child each day to support her with exemplary self control and obedience. Thank you in advance for your support. As always, I will be continually available by e-mail if you need me for anything.

Bible for week of November 2
This week we will begin the GCS passage for November—John 1:1-14. Because there are only 3 weeks of school in Nov. we will memorize only portions of it. This week we will learn John 1:1-4. the children should be ready to say it by this Friday. We are also beginning the life of Daniel this week, including the story of the fiery furnace.
John 1: 1-4
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of the men.”

Homework for Week of November 2
· READING: Homework will come home Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week. Please be sure your child is using proper voice inflection with the ends of sentences and pausing between them. This is a challenge to some of the children.
· LANGUAGE: We will begin working on action words (verbs) this week and will continue the next few weeks.

· SPELLING: We are on List 7 this week. The rule is short words ending in “o, e and y” have the long vowel sound at the end. We will also continue with dictation as well on Fridays.
